The department has six major research groups reflecting its particular strengths within optometry research. Beyond that, we have individual academics that are experts in particular fields of research.

Clinical Vision

Research projects in clinical optometry encompassing the areas of clinical expertise and the interests of individual researchers.

Ecology of Colour Vision

Research into the relationship between colour vision systems and colourful patterns of plants and animals.

Molecular Vision

The MVL has extensive molecular and cellular expertise in the field of membrane transport.

Cell and Molecular Biology of the Retina

Understand retinal function and development in the normal and diseased retina.

Myopia Laboratory

Topics currently in progress include myopia development and control and the mechanics of myopia progression.

Visual Neuroscience

Research topics focussed on amblyopia, psychophysics and non-invasive brain stimulation.
